What do I have to upgrade/change before turboing my Mitsubishi 3000GT??

I am about to buy a 3000GT and I was planning on turning it from SL to turbo car. I was wandering what I have to upgrade/ change to the engine so that I don’t mess up my engine like all the other race heads. Suppose that I don’t want to just go and buy a VR4 engine. I know I have to get new fuel injectors, but what else??? I am thinking about getting like some Evo 16G turbos

you might want to upgrade your oil pump to one that has a higher volume and/or pressure. the extra power is going to change the load on all of the bearings. you might also look into a heaver duty radiator.

HKS has incorporated this new race inspired offset muffler and piping design into many street applications, which offers a greater flow and higher-PRM power gains due to the less restrictive design. This is achieved by eliminating unnecessary bends for the straightest exhaust path.For turbocharged applications, the large and smooth exhaust flow allows greater exhaust velocity for better mid-range boost response and high-RPM power. Forced Performance Green Turbo Mitsubishi EVO VII VIII IX 01-06 $1694.99 Forced Performance Green Turbo Mitsubishi EVO VII VIII IX 01-06The EVOGreen Model turbocharger is a direct bolt-in upgrade for 2006 Lancer Evolution cars and can also be used on earlier EVO4-8 models with the EVO8 turbo installation kit (required to avoid contact with the starter). The installation kit is required for 2003-2005 year model EVO8 and includes the compressor outlet pipe, oil lines, water lines, and all required gaskets.This turbo appears externally to be a 2006 EVO9 turbocharger. It uses the larger diameter EVO9 compressor housing and bearing housing found in the 2006 models. It uses our 700cfm 69-5 billet compressor wheel and our enlarged 11 blade turbine wheel. This combination of increased compressor and turbine flow results in a very broad powerband and stock like boost response while still being capable of well over 400whp.This turbocharger operates very well in the 20-22psi range on pump gas, and 24-28psi on E85 and 26-32psi on C16. Customers who desire quicker spool up and don&#39t plan on running boost higher than 22psi can benefit from selecting the 9.8cm2 housing. The penalty for running the 9.8cm2 housing is much less obvious when coupled with the larger 11 blade turbine wheel and the increase in back pressure from the smaller housing is negligible. To this end we are trying to obtain the very rare 9.0cm2 housing to gain even better bottom end power and response – we&#39ll update on this topic in the future.UPDATE: FP received a shipment of 9.0cm2 housings and have now run them on a few cars to see how they react. Their shop EVO9 has been running one on a EVOGreen model and a flash. The datalogged airflow didn&#39t change appreciably from the smaller housing and shift recovery is down to .5s from .6-7s with the 9.8cm2 housing run on the car previously. As they have long suspected, all three of these housings will allow the engine to exhale easily when coupled with the larger turbine wheel used in the EVOGreen model turbo. Look at the turbine flow graph, notice that the 9.0 and 10.5 data traces are very near each other with the flow parameter only differing by approx 5% between the two sizes. The 9.8cm2 housing data line would be practically on top of the 10.5cm line. This supports the observations of many that the 10.5cm2 housing is only marginally higher flowing than the 9.8cm2 housing.The turbine flow maps shown below shows how the choke flow of the turbine varies with changes in the turbine nozzle area.The 18psi wastegate actuator is strongly recommended for applications where the boost pressure will always be 20psi or higher.The turbine housing gasket match port job is recommended if using a gasket match ported manifold.The turbine housing ceramic coating is recommended to reduce heat in the engine compartment, particularly useful if the factory heat shields are missing.The turbo can be ordered with either 9.0cm2, 9.8cm2 or 10.5cm2 turbine housings. This turbo upgrade features all the hard parts you need to take your EVO X to the next level. Agency Power Race GT30R or GT35R Turbo Kit Mitsubishi EVO VIII IX 03-07 $4000 Agency Power released their first EVO turbo kit back in 2004 for the original EVO VIII. This piece was put to the test on big tracks like Willow Springs and Buttonwillow in California, as well as many others here in Arizona. We upgraded the original design which used a T3/T4 turbo to Garrett GT turbos and now, Agency Power has completely redesigned the EVO VIII and IX turbo kit. The new GT turbo kit features a redesigned high flow header with a true merged collector. Using all 321 stainless steel and precision TIG welds, the header is designed to maximize your power and improve turbo spool up. Using thick CNC machined flanges, the kit will bolt up without any modifications to the factory radiator assembly. The kit uses either a GT35R or GT30R turbo and a Tial 38mm external wastegate. The kit includes the O2 housing which connects via a band clamp to the supplied high flow 3 inch downpipe. The external wastegate dump pipe bolts to the wastegate and is routed in a safe manner. To further improve the kit, Agency Power includes a lower intercooler pipe to fit with the factory or aftermarket intercoolers. This intercooler pipe is then finished in a textured black color. We also supply a new turbo suction pipe which features a blow off valve return port. This is also finished in a textured black color. If you are retaining your factory MAF sensor, we include our CNC machined aluminum MAF adapter and K&N high flow cone air filter. Agency Power Short Ram Intake Kit Mitsubishi EVO X 08+ $299.99 Turbocharged vehicles require a couple of simple bolt on modifications to really open up their power and give that engine a great sound. The first most popular product is an intake kit. Agency Power has engineered and tested to release this short ram intake system for the all new 2008 and up Mitsubishi EVO X. The short ram intake features an aluminum intake pipe with a CNC machined aluminum MAF sensor adapter. The factory MAF sensor fits securely into place with provided hardware. To keep cool air directed to the intake system, AP has retained the factory air inlet scoop similar to the OEM air box. The air scoop snaps into place on our aluminum heat shield like factory. There is no cutting or altering your OEM components. The heat shield is designed to keep cool air going into the intake system. Using the factory rubber grommets and mounting positions, the heat shield will drop into place for a secure fit. AP uses high quality cone air filters for this EVO X intake system. The air filter features a 3 inch front funnel style inlet which is perfect for the direct air flow coming from the front of the car. The filter fits on to the 3 inch intake pipe with a simple worm clamp. The intake pipe diameter is increased to 3.25 inch on one side to fit the factory rubber suction pipe. It can also be used with our aftermarket suction pipe using an AP silicone coupler to connect the two. By freeing up the air flow, the intake will give your car faster throttle response, increased turbo sound, and as tested on a Mustang AWD Dyno, add approximately 20 Horsepower and 16 Ft/Lbs of Torque.
