Is 99 degrees celsius water temp too hot for my rotory?

I have an 87 mazda rx7 turbo II and I asked a similar question about a week ago. The answer I got was 86 C was normal. The engine is almost new with less than 5000 miles on it, stock turbo, running about 10 psi ,no emissions, no a/c, no p/s, mild street port, upgraded ecu with stock injectors, FMIC, custom 3 in exhaust. My stock temp gage is hanging out right at the half way point when my aftermarket gage reads 99 C. It only gets that warm when the ambient temperature is around 90 F, on cooler days the car runs about 86 C. It doesn’t give any sign over overheating like boiling or steam or anything, that just seems warm and I never had a real temp gage on any of my rx7’s.

To determine what is too hot, take a look at the coolant cap.
Most likely it is a 17 lb cap.
Then do the math to find out what the boiling point of water is at that pressure (100/14.5)=(x/31.5) (I think that is right, pressures must be absolute).
To save you the math, 86C is not too hot. To my way of thinking it might be too cool.

Greddy Front Mount Intercooler Kit 32R Spec Mazda RX7 Turbo 87-89The addition of a GReddy intercooler is one of the best ways to safely increase horsepower in a turbocharged engine. By reducing the engine&#39s inlet temperatures, a denser air charge will enter the engine; this can make more horsepower at the same boost level and even more power at higher boost levels. Even if there is a factory-installed intercooler, generally these stock units are not ideal even for factory boost levels. They are usually mounted in awkward locations and become very susceptible to heat saturation. They are not ideal for increased boost levels. Greddy&#39s vehicle specific kits include all the necessary mounts, aluminum piping, hoses, and clamps required to install the kit. All kits are designed with specific cores to provide an ideal concession of cooling and flow, with the added benefit of aggressive looks and style. This is achieved by finding an ideal position and configuration for a wide range of boost levels. Greddy&#39s engineers properly size the number of rows in the core and tune the internal core with either a free flowing V-spec. core or their R-Spec core with a different inner fin patterns . The V-spec and R-Spec cores are a lightweight air-to-air, tube and fin design with a highly efficient tube design, which allows smooth ambient flow for optimum heat dissipation and flow to engine cooling systems. GReddy intercoolers kits offer a great balance of heat exchanging efficiency and flow. The ends of the cores are TIG-welded and capped off with our smooth flowing heavy-duty cast aluminum GReddy endtanks. Lightweight mandrel bent aluminum piping and/or cast aluminum elbows, complete with hose couplers, are used to route air charge smoothly to and from the intercooler.GReddy R-Spec. cores feature a high heat-dissipating “Inner fin” design. People are doing the K24/18G, why not do a K16/16G. Alot of us have the K16 turbos on our Porsche 996 Turbo and like the quick spool. Not looking to break speed records, there is way to squeeze alittle more power from the K16's to pass their stock efficiency. The factory turbine wheel moves about 30lbs/min. With the 16G upgrade, you will see a gain of about 10lbs/min. Basically saying, the stock K16 turbos are good (based on turbo parts) for 550 crank horsepower. Of course depending on types of dyno's, boost settings, fuel tuning, etc, we would say at a 20% drivetrain loss for the AWD that it is more like 540 crank horsepower. This upgrade would increase the power output of your stock Porsche 996 Turbo K16's by (again based on turbo parts) about 60-80 crank horsepower. Maintaining quick spool with an OEM fit and headache free upgrade, you will see a large increase in mid to top end horsepower. By running the same amount of boost you do now on a flashed K16 car (1.0-1.1bar), you will make more power since you are moving more volume of air. This upgrade only requires more fueling from an OEM 5 bar fuel pressure regulator included.  It does require doing an ECU Flash.  Softronic has been doing ECU tuning for more then 15 years.  Having done some of the first K16/16G upgrades, they have a file ready to get your car going fast.  With the turbo upgrade, you get a Softronic OBD Flash Cable which allows you to retain your stock map and do the ECU flash yourself.  There is no need for inhouse tuning, chip soldering, or using a "Tuner".  Softronic tunes using the factory knock and O2 sensor so basic bolt ons or octane changes do not require an new flash.  The computer will adjust for these.To upgrade your K16 turbos, you will need to remove them from your vehicle and ship them to our Turbo Builder which we will supply you with the address and instructions.  Please contact us first before shipping any products.  Once we receive the turbos, we will modify them to the K16G level and clean up your stock turbos.  This process is about 7-10 days once they are received.  You are responsible for shipping to and from.  If you have any technical questions, consult one of our Porsche Specialists. This 550HP K16/16G kit consists of:Upgrading your stock K16 Turbos with a 16G Turbine Wheel5bar FPRSoftronic ECU Flash with OBD Flash Cable.There are other options below.
