Is an engine swap into a 2000 chevrolet cavalier a bad idea/is it affordable?
I have a 2000 chevy cavalier with the base 2.2L engine that puts out around 130 hp. This engine is really sad and I was thinking about upgrading it. I understand that a V8 will not fit but will a V6 possibly work? The car is getting old but I like the body and would like to keep it. For under $10k, would it be possibly to put in like a 3.5L V6, new tranny, chip, and everything and have it last for at least 5 years? Also, would a turbo or tt be too much money? Is this a worthy investment?
Nope. It would cost more than $10k, and a V6 cannot fit in their unless it is a small V6 that makes similar power to the engine you already have.
170HP or more in a small car like the Cavalier is very fast. That could be found in many 4 cylinder engines these days, even the Chevy Cobalt SS.
But it will still cost too much money.
